Research in the Maboudian  group centers around physical and chemical issues related to the development of new applications of micro- and nanotechnology.  It aims to explore new and interesting frontiers of science and engineering, with particular interest in micro/nanoelectronics, micro/nanoelectromechanical systems, sensors and energy.  Our current research may be divided into three major thrusts: Material development for nanotechnology; Surface and interfacial issues in MEMS/NEMS; and Fundamental aspects of surfaces.

Our research benefits greatly from affiliations with Berkeley Sensor & Actuator Center (BSAC), Center for Interfacial Engineering of Microelectromechanical Systems (CIEMS), and Center of Integrated Nanomechanical Systems (COINS).
